Professor of Health Economics

This full-time post is available from May 2025 on a permanent basis and offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. We also welcome applications from those looking for less than full time hours.We seek to appoint a forward-looking and highly committed individual to Professor of Health Economics. The successful candidate will combine strong academic research with a track record of strategic leadership and collaborative engagement. They will be an innovative researcher with a strong and current record of grant acquisition and high-quality publications commensurate with an international reputation.The successful candidate will be expected to engage with and lead on opportunities to develop research and education in health economics. They will have a demonstrable international research profile, which includes expertise in economic evaluation alongside clinical trials. They will build on the University of Exeter’s strengths in this area both within and will be part of a thriving community of health economists who sit across three interlinked groups, the Health Economics Group (HEG), Public Health Economics Group (PHEG) and PenTAG Health Technology Assessment Group, within the University of Exeter Medical School.The post sits in the Health Economics Group. Led by Prof Anne Spencer, the Health Economics Group strategically conducts high-quality policy-relevant Health Economic research and education to improve population health. Our aim is to contribute to improvements in health and healthcare in the UK and internationally through research to inform decisions on the design, evaluation, and delivery of health interventions and systems. The group works closely with colleagues across the Faculty, other University departments, the NHS and more widely.
