Recently ranked in the top 5.3% of universities in the world, ranked 2nd in the UK for research impact through REF2021, and having recently celebrated our 125th anniversary, there has never been a more exciting time to join our organisation.We are looking to appoint a world leading immunologist with a strong record of working in the human pathogen and/or tropical disease research areas, as a Professor of Immunology within our highly esteemed Tropical Disease Biology department. You will join a multidisciplinary group of experts with a shared interest in translating basic science into tangible solutions for the patients affected by global health challenges.The successful candidate will have the autonomy to shape the research portfolio within immunology at LSTM. Some of the key areas we are keen to explore include world leading research across major human infections to address unmet global health challenges, increasing capability of relevant in-house infection models that link to refined animal disease and human challenge models, and leveraging the strength of existing LSTM research centres for the discovery of antibody-based biologics as diagnostic or therapeutic tools, to meet the needs of neglected tropical disease and/or emerging disease.Key responsibilities will include:
