We are seeking leading cancer specialists to join us and position Sheffield as one of the best centres in the country for patient-focused cancer research.Our pioneering work discovered the role of Lynparza (Olaparib) for tumours with imperfect DNA repair. This is now saving lives all around the world and has provided us with unprecedented multi-million-pound funding to deliver innovative healthcare that meets the needs of our local diverse communities, work with our partners to address inequalities in healthcare and pursue our ambition for a new Cancer Research Centre at Sheffield to facilitate our vision.You will be able to apply for University of Sheffield dedicated cancer research funding to build your team. The Yorkshire Cancer Research (YCR) Sheffield Pioneers fund and the YCR More Life to Live fund are annual schemes ringfenced for applications led by Sheffield investigators. This year, for example, the schemes are estimated to be worth £10m and £8m respectively. The funding is provided by regional charity Yorkshire Cancer Research thanks to the royalties from the successful commercialisation of the cancer drug Lynparza, which the university and the charity played a key role in.
