Closing Date: 03/02/2025University of Sheffield seeking world leading translational researchers in academic and clinical oncology.The University of Sheffield is recruiting high-performing cancer research leaders to join us to help build a future where more people with cancer survive and live longer, thanks to the research we do here at Sheffield. We are seeking leading cancer specialists to join us and position Sheffield as one of the best centres in the country for patient-focused cancer research.Our pioneering work discovered the role of Lynparza (Olaparib) for tumours with imperfect DNA repair. This is now saving lives all around the world and has provided us with unprecedented multi-million-pound funding to deliver innovative healthcare that meets the needs of our local diverse communities, work with our partners to address inequalities in healthcare and pursue our ambition for a new Cancer Research Centre at Sheffield to facilitate our vision.You will be able to apply for University of Sheffield dedicated cancer research funding to build your team. The Yorkshire Cancer Research (YCR) Sheffield Pioneers fund and the YCR More Life to Live fund are annual schemes ringfenced for applications led by Sheffield investigators. This year, for example, the schemes are estimated to be worth £10m and £8m respectively. The funding is provided by regional charity Yorkshire Cancer Research thanks to the royalties from the successful commercialisation of the cancer drug Lynparza, which the university and the charity played a key role in. Future amounts are expected to be in the multi-million-pound range.This is a tremendous opportunity to drive forward our tradition of excellence in clinical and translational research for the benefit of all our communities.Seeking world-leading researchersAs part of an ambitious and ongoing plan for strategic growth in Cancer Research at the University of Sheffield, we are looking to appoint four world-leading clinical and translational researchers into a range of roles including professorial.
