Building on its continued success, SBS is now ranked in the top quartile of the research-intensive business schools in the UK, with a strong research environment which is ranked 12th (REF2021) in the UK. The School has an ambitious growth plan, which includes investments in people and facilities. The school has recently relocated to a state of art business building.Building on this success, in July 2022, the School secured AMBA 5-year re-accreditation of the MBA programme which is ranked 13th in the UK (QS data) and its AACSB accreditation was recently re-extended for another full period of 5 years. A member of the UNPRM, our commitment to the SDGs was also recognised through the GRI accreditation. The school holds the CABS Small Business Charter award in recognition of the SBS’ world-class support to students and local businesses, including the development of student entrepreneurial skills and the support and development of wider economic and social opportunities for business. These connections enable us to further deliver impactful research and improve the student learning experience.About the Department of Human Resource Management and Organisational BehaviourThe Department of Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour (DHRMOB) is an internationally recognised world-class department where our teaching and research interests relate to the shifting worlds of work and employment, together with the management and behaviour of people and organisations. Members of the DHRMOB are thought leaders in their respective domains of expertise and publish widely in top-tier journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Work, Employment and Society, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Vocational Behaviour, Journal of Organisational Behaviour, Human Relations. DHRMOB has an expanding portfolio of UG and PG programmes and is home to a thriving student community. Sustainability research is a key strength within SBS. The department aims to leverage this interdisciplinary capability by bringing a leadership perspective to sustainability research, and further expand its research, education and knowledge exchange to ultimately address societal, business and organisational challenges in a world of complex interdependencies. The department fully embraces SBS interdisciplinarity and works with colleagues across the rest of the school.About youAs a Professor, you will play a key role in planning and shaping sustainability and leadership research, teaching, and knowledge exchange, as well as the school’s agenda for interdisciplinary research in these critical areas for world-class business schools. You will bring to the role a strong professional reputation that should be evidenced through the production of world class research in leading academic journals. You should have led (or participated in) major funding bids, setting up, and managing the resources needed to deliver research projects. You should also be willing to act as a leader of the department of human resource management and organisational behaviour in a formal capacity (e.g., as Head of Department) or as a mentor of junior scholars. In addition, you will act as a leader and ambassador for our school and university across management and enterprise or other engagement activities.You will be an experienced educator with a proven track record of high-quality teaching and pedagogical innovations, and willing to contribute to the development of education policy and practice as well as design and develop courses and programmes at all levels (UG, MSc, MBA and Executive Education). You should have sufficient experience supervising doctoral students (PhD and DBA programmes).We welcome applications from candidates with a well-established research profile in the areas of sustainability and leadership. The ideal candidate will have research expertise in sustainability and leadership from both scholarly and practice perspectives.Given that you will have to engage in some leadership role, you should also have demonstrable leadership skills. Such skills can be evidenced through your research, education and/or having held a key leadership role.
