Program Associate – Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs – Georgetown University

Georgetown’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs is dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of religion and the promotion of interreligious understanding.

Job Overview

The Program Associate supports the administration and execution of the Berkley Center’s student programs, especially those that foster student dialogue on campus and around the world.

As well, they assist with student dialogues as part of the Culture of Encounter Project and support the administration of the Religions, Ethics, and World Affairs (REWA) minor, the Doyle Engaging Difference Program, and other student programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and programmatic support for all aspects of the Center’s student programs, including the REWA minor, Doyle Program, and the Culture of Encounter Project
  • Support the Director of Student Programs in developing and implementing program strategies and initiatives
  • Coordinate with faculty, staff, and external partners to organize and execute student-centered interfaith and intercultural dialogue programs and events
  • Research and draft news and feature stories on student programs for the Center’s website and other publications
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among students, student organizations, and campus partners, including the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service, the Office of Mission and Ministry, and the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS)
  • Assist in student recruitment and support for the REWA minor and other Center programs
  • Maintain and organize program documentation, records, and participant information using Google Suite applications
  • Manage constituent communications via email, social media, and other communications platforms
  • Support finance, travel, and events logistics
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of student data for all programs, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Director of Student Programs and the Center’s Executive Director, the Program Associate works closely with the Berkley Center communications and administration teams, and interacts with faculty, staff, and students at Georgetown and partner institutions, as well as with a wider public.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A familiarity with the global dimension of higher education
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Proven skills in time management, organization, and communications and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a complex, multifaceted environment
  • Proficiency in Google Suite – Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Collaborative work style and ability to respond positively to constructive feedback

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience – preferably in an administrative/business capacity
  • Knowledge of Georgetown’s mission and its global activities
  • Academic or professional background in religion, theology, international relations, or discipline related to the Center’s mission
  • Experience managing projects in an intercultural context
  • Experience in programming related to intercultural and/or interreligious dialogue
  • Familiarity with curricular and co-curricular student program development
