The Dalla Lana School of Public Health is a Faculty of the University of Toronto that originated as one of the Schools of Hygiene begun by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1927. The School, which plays a criticalrole in the COVID-19 pandemic response, went through a dramatic renaissance after the 2003 SARS crisis and it is now the largest public health school in Canada, with more than 850 faculty, 1,000 students, and research and training partnerships with institutions throughout Toronto and the world. With $53.3 million in research funding per year, the School contributes to improving population health and health policy and health systems through discoveries and innovation in data science and AI, maternal, child and reproductive health, climate change, implementation and improvement sciences, preventable disease through vaccines and prevention through wellness such as with diabetes, comparative health policy, sustainable and equitable health systems, global and Indigenous health, among many other areas. This past year, $10 million philanthropic dollars was raised for research, education and knowledge translation, and the over 7000 alumni were deeply engaged through events and networking opportunities.
Your opportunity:
The Centre for Global Health is an academic hub for global health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. The Centre, catalyzes collaborative, interdisciplinary and equity-informed global health research, offers global health education and training across the education continuum, and works closely with strategic partners to build a global health network across the DLSPH.
The Program Coordinator, Centre for Global Health will be responsible for providing detailed information to students on instructional program and/or course requirements including preparing acceptance and/or decline letters to applicants. In addition, you will analyze and make recommendations for programming enhancements for the various training programs at the Centre for Global Health. This includes evaluating and recommending appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities and producing promotional and outreach materials.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing program support to both students and internal stakeholders by responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Resolving minor complaints within the scope of the role and referring larger issues when appropriate
- Liaising with students and faculty to coordinate program activties including providing detailed information on program and/or course requirements
- Supporting award competitions including collecting and passing on submissions, tracking/monitoring distribution of awards, and preparing award letters
- Maintaining information on digital platforms including course information on student information systems
- Support student work-integrated learning activities including making recommendations for enhancements with programming and administrative processes
- Support communication and marketing initiatives by producing promotional, outreach, and audio visual materials
- Contributing to the execution of events by supporting event activities, programming, and coordination of event details
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years of experience coordinating academic and/or instructional programs, preferably within a university
- Demonstrated student services experience, including experience coordinating education programs, examination timetables and ensuring program requirements, guidelines and procedures are adhered to
- Demonstrated experience coordinating events (sourcing vendors, monitoring budgets), from concept delivery, coordination of logistical tactics, execution and post-event reconciliation
- Experience supporting student work-integrated learning programs, including assigning students to external learning opportunities
- Experience with producing communication and/or marketing materials including promotional, outreach, and audio visual materials
- Experience maintaining information on student information systems (i.e., course information)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, tact, political acuity and diplomacy
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Reader Pro, Zoom, Slack, WordPress, and Mailchimp
- Excellent organizational skills, time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet conflicting priorities and balance multiple projects; Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong planning and project coordination skills with excellent prioritization and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong initiative and judgment skills
- Demonstrated experience working as an effective team member in high pressure situations

USW Pay Band 10 — $70,844. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,595. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
