The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ young people. We are a non-profit that provides 24/7 life-saving support via phone, text, and chat. We also operate the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, and run innovative research, education, and advocacy programs. We’ve been saving lives every day for over 20 years.
Role: Program Manager, Culture & Engagement
Reports to: People, Culture, & Experience Director
Location: Remote in the continental US, Alaska, or Hawaii
Pay Rate: $75,000-85,000/year
Hours: Full-time
Overview of the role
People are at the core of what we do. In collaboration with our People, Culture, & Experience team you will contribute to The Trevor Project’s life-saving work by developing and measuring innovative programs to promote staff engagement aligned with our organizational values and strategic people plan. Who You Are

  • Experienced – You have experience building, maintaining, and improving upon cultural programming at an organizational level, managing a portfolio of multiple programs. You have subject matter expertise in the latest trends of employee engagement and experience as well as scaling programs for growing organizations. Previous experience delivering reporting and insights to executive level leaders is a must.
  • Collaborator – You have recognized success in creating relationships with cross-functional teams from varying levels, working closely with colleagues to brainstorm ideas, discuss pros/cons, and develop ways forward. You are experienced in fostering an environment where different opinions and approaches can be entertained, considered, and appreciated while working as a team to find a resolution
  • Communicator – You’ve demonstrated ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in written and oral forms to audiences inside and outside of the organization as well as proven skill in distilling complex information into compelling, easily digestible narratives; presents information in an inspiring and persuasive way
  • Service Delivery and Adaptability – You have a proven focus on proactive and inclusive issue resolution and continuous improvement for all systems and processes. You’ve demonstrated flexibility in the midst of change, being able to successfully juggle multiple deliverables, and adapting to new situations with fresh ideas or innovative approaches.
  • Mission and Culture Alignment-Demonstrated awareness and support for The Trevor Project’s mission and vision: to end suicide and address mental health crises in the LGBTQ youth community, and create a world where all LGBTQ young people see a bright future for themselves.
  • Project/Process Management. You have a track record of translating vision and strategy into detailed priorities and operating plans with clear owners and due dates, effectively managing stakeholders and delivering results that meet the needs of the organization. You balance multiple complex projects with competing priorities; communicate status updates on projects thoughtfully and intentionally, have experience with processes development aligned with objective achievement, as well as process improvement and innovation.
  • Data and Results Driven. You have a demonstrated history of making data based decisions and are skilled in reviewing data with an eye for detail and process improvement.


What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to our critical mission of ending suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people, while fostering an inclusive approach to your direct work and engagement with Trevor colleagues across the organization
  • Continually grow your LGBTQ competency and awareness
  • Develop, lead, and project manage Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion initiatives, including employee Affinity Groups.
  • Identify priority initiatives that directly impact the employees who make our life-saving work possible.
  • Manage the Employee Engagement Survey strategy and execution for Team Trevor inclusive of organization wide action planning
  • Serve as a strong partner to the People & Culture Team in handling sensitive and confidential employee data.
  • Enhance and create initiatives (e.g. onboarding cultural content, staff bonding, work anniversaries) to ensure that Trevor has an inspiring, high-performance culture that engages, inspires, and retains amazing people.
  • Develop programs that foster an inclusive culture alongside our People & Culture team members
  • Analyze and use data and metrics to inform decisions that affect the organization such as engagement survey data, exit interview data, etc.
