The Program Officer (PO) works with DC-based and field-based team members to design, plan and implement projects within their portfolio of assignment, ensuring USG grant compliance and fiscal responsibility. The PO monitors program progress and ensures the achievement of key benchmarks, including funder required indicators. The PO closely monitors and analyzes political and economic developments in assigned countries and the surrounding region, develops program ideas, and drafts proposals on a range of democracy and assistance programs. The PO also supports the identification and oversight of program partners, managing the procurement process with partners. The PO ensures effective communication with key stakeholders, including funders. The PO is also involved in new business development efforts for assigned portfolio.
This is a hybrid position based with the program team in Washington, DC.
Position Requirements:
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
Bachelors or better in Political Science or related field.
Undergraduate degree in political science, international relations or related field. Three to five years’ professional experience, preferably in the field of democracy and governance. Demonstrated experience working with US Government funded projects and familiarity with USG regulations and processes, especially USAID. Experience with an international non-profit organization preferred.
