Overview

Jhpiego is implementing a maternal and newborn health project funded by technical Advice Connect (TA CONNECT). This project will provide technical assistance (TA) to Bauchi State Ministry of Health (SMOH) and State Public Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA) Support states to adopt, implement and scale MNH innovations along the continuum of care. The project aims to Improve uptake of MNH innovations and High Impact Interventions along the continuum of care at the facility and community levels.

The project also aims to institutionalize and scale up Group antenatal care (ANC) within maternal and newborn health (MNH) services in public health facilities, and improve the quality and experience of ANC for pregnant women in the state.

Achieving the objectives of this intervention requires a strong and efficient technical assistance system that is aimed at providing mentoring and coaching to frontline healthcare workers to improve the quality of services provided across the continuum of care

Responsibilities

  • Assists the state team in implementing GANC Model with high standard.
  • Oversees implementation of GANC Model activities in all facility with utmost fidelity ensures the Model is done according to standard.
  • Conducts mentoring/On-The-Job training in supported facilities across ANC and labour wards.
  • Ensures the quality of MNH services provided in assigned facilities are optimum.
  • Ensures needed equipment/materials are available in supported facilities.
  • Provides general support and serves as a link between facilities and Program team.
  • Performs any other duties as requested by Program team.
  • Timely collates and writes reports

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife
  • 2 years of working experience related to MNCH particularly intrapartum and ANC
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Planning, coordination and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in word processing, Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel within state
  • Understanding of Hausa language would be an added advantage.
