Result of Service

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer, and overall supervision of the Director of APCICT, the contractor is required to perform the following functions:

  • Researches, compiles, analyses, summarizes, and presents basic information/data on specific programmes/project and related topics.
  • Assists in the coordination of project planning and preparation; monitors status of project proposals; takes necessary action to ensure project activities are completed in timely manner.
  • Support the timely preparation and submission of project proposals, progress reports, and other required project reports.
  • Provides administrative and operational support on the implementation of the project;
  • Assist in projects financial resources management, human Resources Management, efficient procurement and logistical services;
  • Provide logistical support for workshops and other meetings as tasked by the project manager;
  • Supports the Centre’s outreach and advocacy activities including social media.
  • Undertakes any other assignments that may be assigned by the Director of APCICT.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The contractor will be stationed in APCICT in Incheon and is expected to submit the outputs in accordance with the list of deliverables indicated in above outputs. Throughout the duration of contract period, the contractor is required to provide services on-site at APCICT office full-time (minimum of 8 working hours per day excluding one-hour lunch break). The payments based on the actual number of days delivered during each month will be calculated according to the attendance records.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and regional connectivity in the Asian and Pacific region.
  • ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership with policy-oriented research and analysis, normative support and technical assistance and capacity building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.
  • The Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communications Technology (APCICT) was inaugurated on 16 June 2006 as a regional institute of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and is located in Incheon, Republic of Korea. The Centre’s mission is to strengthen the efforts of the member countries of ESCAP to use ICT in their sustainable development through human and institutional capacity building. To meet this objective, APCICT’s work is focused on three inter-related pillars– Training, Research and Advisory Services. Together they form an integrated approach to ICT human capacity building.
  • APCICT is seeking a Programme Assistant (Individual Contractor) to contribute to its training, research and knowledge sharing, and advisory services work.

Qualifications/special skills

  • Equivalent to first level of university degree in public policy, international development, administration, economics or a related field. Experience in conducting research, project administration, or related area is required.
  • Experience working in the field of Development or ICT for Development would be an asset.

Languages

  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.
