DCA is seeking to recruit a competent, experienced and motivated Kenyan National for the position of Programme Development, Grants & Partnerships Officer. The position is based in Nairobi – with travel within Kenya – and reports to the Head of Programme, basedin Nairobi.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Programme Development, Grants & Partnerships Officer coordinates DCA’s resource mobilization efforts and secures timely and efficient grant management for our programme in Kenya. The main purpose of the PDGP Officer is to plan, coordinate and ensure quality and timeliness in all grants and fundraising processes in the Kenya Country Office (CO). The position will also be responsible for coordinating DCA partner support and capacity building within an organizational development framework.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Programme and Country Director, in strategically engaging with donors and other stakeholders to develop and implement the DCA Kenya CO fundraising strategy.
  • Coordinating timely proposal development – together with partner organisations, other INGO staff and DCA colleagues – ensuring that proposals are of high quality and meet donor requirements.
  • Support the quality assurance/approval of project proposals and ensure they are designed in line with DCA Kenya Country Programme, DCA Global Strategy & Results Framework.
  • Ensure regular & effective partner engagement/communication in all stages of the project cycle & in grants management.
  • Working closely with the MEAL Coordinator, review project and programme reports for internal QA before submission to HQ for further QA and onward submission to the donors.
  • Plan, organize and conduct partner organizational capacity assessments & develop and implement capacity building plans for partners, in collaboration with key programme and finance & support service staff.
  • Assisting in building relations and increase visibility of DCA among both donors, private sector, partners, INGOs and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that all funded projects meet the visibility and communication requirements of the funding agency.
  • Serve as the DCA Kenya representative to the Act Alliance Kenya Forum and focal point for supporting capacity strengthening initiatives under the Kenya Charter for Change (C4C) working group.
  • Securing constructive and close collaboration with relevant units and colleagues in DCA, both in Kenya and in DCA in Copenhagen with regards to fundraising and grants management, and;
  • Coordinate and supervise relevant programme staff in maintaining all the PPD project and programme records and data up to date and in compliance with DCA internal procedures.

Required Education and Experience

  • A university degree in community/international development, project management or other related sciences as well as minimum five years working experience, preferably in Kenya and/or East Africa region.
  • Documented successful experience in implementing fundraising strategies and coordinating proposal development and writing, including excellent English writing skills.
  • Knowledge of grant management of international donors including EU, ECHO, Danida, NORAD and other institutional donors.
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with local and international partners and the private sector.
  • Enjoys and is good at liaison, building relations and networking.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with experience in engaging with people of different cultures and backgrounds.
  • Flexible, pro-active, self-motivated and good at coordinating and organizing own work as well as that of the team, while managing several processes at a time. This should be combined with a strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of DCA’s programmatic areas is an advantage.
