The opportunity

The School of Media and Communication at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London are looking for a (1.0 FTE) fixed term Programme Director for the Fashion Communication Programme (Maternity Cover for 6 months initially). The post holder reports to the Dean of School and will be responsible for the management and leadership of this ambitious programme. 
This is a particularly exciting time to join LCF as we move into our new home in East Bank for September 2023 and there is significant opportunity to leverage the many opportunities this brings. Through professional, research and knowledge exchange networks, the post holder will promote the continuous development of the programme, responding to the broader socio-political context of practice and education nationally and internationally as well as to LCFs new home on the East Bank. 

The post holder will be a key player on the School’s Senior Management Team, proactively leading, contributing to the ongoing work of the school. They will hold responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum, will oversee the current reapproval process in the programme and will ensure the maintenance and enhancement of standards across the Fashion Communication portfolio of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. 

About you

We are looking for an experienced educator with a profile and proven track record of education, practice, research, knowledge exchange or other scholarly or professional activity related to the areas of fashion communication. You will have a relevant undergraduate, and preferably postgraduate degree, a teaching qualification and academic management and leadership experience.

You should have experience of managing and motivating teams and dealing with complex institutional and/or professional contexts, including issues of finance, HR and the implementation of policies. You will be a strong and effective communicator who is collaborative and empathetic in the way you engage with others. You will be able to demonstrate engagement with current societal and environmental challenges and will understand their implications for the development, direction and priorities of the programme and its courses.
