12 months Fixed Term – Subject to funding

The starting salary package for this position is £57,032 GBP / approx. $72,475 USD including all allowances

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

The Programme Manager (PM) will act as MAG’s senior country representative for internal and external stakeholders, while assuming responsibility for the management and delivery of all projects in the country. They will lead and manage the country Senior Management Team (SMT), and report to the Regional Programme Manager (RPM). The PM will develop effective relationships and networks with relevant stakeholders including national and local authorities, donors, UN agencies, national partners, NGO forums, the wider NGO, community and commercial operators in the region, and represent MAG at country level meetings across wide range of stakeholders. They will also support the RPM in identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand MAG programme activities in new locations within the country and be responsible for national partner project management and implementation.

About you:

The successful candidate will have relevant overseas of working on development/humanitarian projects at a senior level, preferably in a conflict or post-conflict environment. You will have extensive experience of developing, supporting and managing projects including implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation and contract compliance. You will have proven expertise in the development and management of new business, including proposal development, networking and contract negotiations, and experience of having developed successful relationships and negotiated with donors, government bodies, other NGOs and local partners. Experience of managing finance, logistics & procurement, administrative and HR systems to ensure project efficiency is required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with outstanding influencing and negotiating skills are key to the role. You will also have strong writing skills and capability to quality review proposals, budgets, reports and other communications for donors and other stakeholders. The postholder will be innovative, proactive and resilient, to manage a varied and demanding workload with competing demands and priorities.

Fluent written and spoken English language skills required.

MAG has been responding to the Nigeria crisis since 2015 working to support and protect conflict affected communities from explosive remnants of war, so that people can restore and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury.
