Conciliation Resources

Conciliation Resources is an independent international organisation working with people in conflict to prevent violence, resolve conflicts and promote peaceful societies. We believe that building sustainable peace takes time. We provide practical support to help people affected by violent conflict achieve lasting peace. We draw on our shared experiences to improve peacebuilding policies and practice worldwide.

In South Asia, Conciliation Resources has been working with Kashmiris on either side of the Line of Control (LoC) supporting locally-led peacebuilding initiatives since 2008. Working with partners and a network of civic actors in all parts of Kashmir, we support their efforts in articulating local needs and perspectives to build up peace constituencies in support of conflict transformation in the region. Our goal is to enhance prospects for a non-violent transformation of the long-standing conflict over the disputed territories of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, the South Asia Programme has worked with partners on Afghanistan-related analysis and activities. The South Asia Programme is part of our wider Europe-Asia Department.

Job purpose

The Programme Officer provides project, partner, administrative and logistical support necessary for the implementation of the South Asia programme. The post holder will play a key role in liaising with partners across the areas in which we work, and in managing programme events and information. They will support consultants and volunteers working with the team.

Our South Asia Programme works closely with partners on both sides of the LoC, with UK based colleagues, supporting partners in person through travel, and also remotely. The candidate would need to be based in the UK, with travel to the London-based office weekly, and they will occasionally undertake international travel. They will be supported by colleagues in our wider Europe Asia Department, as well as colleagues within the South Asia programme.

The Programme Officer may be required to support wider departmental tasks as required. This may involve work with other programmes in the department and Research, Advisory and Policy Department colleagues as appropriate
