Follow-up with stakeholders to complete biannual survey by 30th June 2025. 5. Performs general administrative tasks (e.g. arrangements for meetings and other events, reservations, review of quotations and invoices) for upcoming project activities by 30th June 2025 6. Update and submit project directory, with all project partners contacts, by 30th July 2025. 7. Duties and Responsibilities
Background The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint agency of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations. The ITC assists developing and transition countries and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to take advantage of expanding trade opportunities in an increasingly complex global environment. The Green and Inclusive Value Chains (GIVC) section is a part of the Division of Sustainable and Inclusive Trade (DSIT), focused on catalysing sector-wide transformation and private sector competitiveness through sustainable practices. The GIVC strives to improve market linkages and enhance climate resilience, food security, and sustainable standards and market systems. Our work empowers MSMEs to grow sustainably and responsibly, while promoting a greener, more inclusive global economy. The STAR project is a four-year project financed by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and implemented by the ITC. The project aims to increase the resilience to natural disasters and competitiveness of producers and MSMEs in ten districts in Northern and North-Eastern Uganda. The STAR project focuses on three value chains, namely cassava, shea, and oilseed. The project is working with all actors along the value chain, including farmers, processors, traders, and service providers, to build their capacity and enhance their resilience and competitiveness. The outcome will be achieved through the implementation of the following 4 outputs: Output 1: Capacity of producers and SMEs to become more competitive and resilient to natural disaster risks increased. Output 2: Community based disaster risk management structures enhanced. Output 3: Service offering of Business Support Organizations (BSOs) and other service providers to build SME natural disaster risk resilience and competitiveness improved. Output 4: National strategies and policies to improve the natural disaster risk resilience and competitiveness of target agricultural value chains strengthened. For administrative, logistical and coordination related needs, the project is seeking to engage a part-time project assistant to support with project implementation. Description of Duties/Responsibilities The project assistant will provide administrative services for the implementation of the project under the supervision of Programme Officer, based in Kampala and in close relation with the Programme Operations Assistant, under the overall supervision of the project manager based in Geneva. The project assistant shall dedicate a total of 8 days each month to fulfil their assigned duties and responsibilities. The project assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Perform general administrative tasks e.g. preparing Terms of References (ToRs), identifying vendors, obtaining and reviewing quotations, invoices, among others for • Provide logistical Support to project activities, events and training programmes including gathering details for preparation of DSA rosters, Attendance forms, printing, distribution and collection of training evaluation forms, among others. • Assist in performing monitoring and evaluation activities including transcribing data collected offline, following up with survey respondents, updating M&E tools, among others. • Support the preparation of activity documents including meetings notes, attendance lists, event reports, among others. • Provide general office assistance to the project including responding to queries of project stakeholders, beneficiaries, project staff, among others. • Provide support in the development and refinement of various communication materials, such as meeting notes, social media posts, newsletters, and other relevant documents • Photocopies a variety of documents and other materials. • Delivers urgent mail/messages. • Undertake other ad-hoc administrative duties as assigned by the project team. Copyright Clause: The consultant has to ensure that she has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills
High School diploma required. Undergraduate degree (BA/BSC or other) in Business Administration, Economics, International Development or similar field would be an asset. A minimum of 1 years’ Experience in administrative, events logistical and coordination roles. Experience in the implementation of disaster risk resilience, MSME trade competitiveness projects, or related, is desirable.
