Mission
Geneva Call is an international humanitarian organization striving to enhance the protection of civilians in conflict contexts. Geneva Call engages in a dialogue with armed groups and de facto authorities for them to be aware and better comply with international humanitarian norms and principles. Geneva Call is headquartered in Geneva and works in 16 conflict contexts in South-East and Central Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Role
The Consortium Project Assistant under the supervision of Consortium Project Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation and the FCDO funded Sustainable Pathways for Peace and Stability in Yemen project according to the project plans, internal procedures and guidelines as well as donor requirements. The Consortium Project Assistant will contribute to mitigating protection risks to vulnerable communities and aim to support the creation of a culture of protection of rights among community, armed actors, and other players as well as contributing to local peace initiatives in Yemen.
The Consortium Project Assistant, working under the supervision of Consortium Project Officer, will be responsible for timely implementation of the project activities and deliverables according to the approved project documents and within the prescribed timeframe and budget following internal procedures and donor requirements. The Consortium Project Assistant will also ensure proper documentation and reporting of project activities.
Core responsibilities
Project Implementation
- In collaboration with Consortium Project Officer, organize and Conduct IHL trainings, and other trainings to different beneficiaries such as AGDAs, CSOs and local communities in different locations in as required by Geneva Call Program;
- Assist in the development and adoption of Geneva Call’s training material according to the respective audience of the training;
- Assist in project implementation and help in the setting up and coordination of meetings and training sessions in the framework of the project, and ensure that work is conducted according to plan, budget and timeline;
- Implementing GC’s consortium project activities, notably awareness raising sessions and trainings on IHL and humanitarian norms;
- Together with Consortium Project Officer, responsible for quality project implementation and monitoring in accordance with Geneva Call and donor work plans, budget and procedures;
- Monitor and report on the implementation of all project activities, outputs and outcomes, submitting required reporting and documentation accurately and on time including supporting local partners in their reporting and ensuring their reports follow GC formats;
- Assist in safe-keeping of information and knowledge, including filing of program documents and materials;
- Collect and analyze information relating to the context, conflict situation, humanitarian needs and potential impact on Geneva Call’s work in project area(s) and relay this to the Cosnortium Project Officer, Program Poordinator, Consortium Project Manager and HoP;
- Provide material (photos, videos, stories from the field) about the project and timely reports to showcase project outcomes and achievements;
- Support implementation of communications strategy including the production of external communication materials, activities, campaigns, events and other initiatives.
Security
In coordination with security focal point of the country programme:
- Ensure adherence to GC’s security policies and protocols;
- Support regular assessments of the security situation vis-à-vis the project, project partners, beneficiaries and GC, preparing risk assessments and suggesting mitigating measures and following up on incidents as necessary.
Communications & External relations
- In coordination with the Program Coordinator and Consortium Project Manager, engage local and international organizations regularly;
- Provide material (photos, videos, stories from the field) about the project and timely reports to showcase project outcomes and acheivements;
- Support implementation of communications strategy including the production of external communication materials, activities, campaigns, events and other initiatives.
Financial Management
- Contribute to transparent and timely project-related financial management following GC protocols;
- Develop costed activity plans for the consortium project to ensure implementation in line with the consortium project budget.
Human Resource Management
- Develop personal annual objectives and work with the line manager to achieve the project and personal development objectives.
Others
- Attend and represent GC as required at meetings and other fora of interest to the organisation as delegated or assigned;
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Main qualifications
Education
- Completed degree of Higher Education in relevant field such as Political or Social Science, International Humanitarian Law or Human Rights or equivalent.
Languages
- Proficiency in English and Arabic is required.
Technical knowledge or experience in
- IT Tools (MS Office, Excel, email, KOBO);
- Experience in project implementation. reporting, monitoring and research;
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of humanitarian work;
- Experience in developing professional relationships with various stakeholders including armed actors and working in a neutral and objective manner.
Personal qualities
