Project Coordinator

CAT seeks a Project Coordinator for the Troi’r Llanw / Turning The Tide project, to work closely with the Project Manager, to provide project co-ordination for this three year project, ensuring that all project activities are properly planned, resourced and delivered to a high standard.

The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an internationally renowned environmental charity, a world-leading eco centre, and one of the foremost providers of postgraduate environmental education in the UK, based near Machynlleth in Mid Wales.

CAT provides inspiration, education and training in solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

Key activities include a visitor centre where groups can see solutions in action, residential short courses, vocational training and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of sustainability-related topics, with online courses and events offered alongside in-person learning.

This role is funded as part of the Troi’r Llanw / Turning the Tide project, which is funded thanks to the Climate Action Fund, a long-term commitment from The National Lottery Community Fund to support communities across the UK to act on climate change and involve more people in positive environmental action.

Location: Regularly working at CAT’s eco centre, Machynlleth, Mid Wales with opportunity for some flexible home working.
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (1.0 FTE)
Working Days: Monday to Friday with occasional evening and weekend working

Salary and employee benefits:

£35.898 p.a.

Overview of Role

Troi’r Llanw / Turning The Tide is a three-year, Wales-wide initiative aimed at inspiring, informing, and enabling practical community-level responses to climate change and environmental sustainability. We envision a future where community-based climate action is mainstreamed, where marginalised voices benefit from and shape environmental decisions, and where people feel hopeful and empowered in the face of the climate crisis.

The Project Co-Ordinator will be responsible for working closely with the Project Manager to co –ordinate and lead this three year project.

Main Purpose and Responsibilities

The post holder will work closely with the Project Manager to co-ordinate the three-year Troi’r Llanw / Turning The Tide project.

Main responsibilities:

• To provide project co-ordination for the three-year project, ensuring that all project activities are properly planned, resourced and delivered to a high standard
• Co-ordinate delivery of all project activities to achieve required outputs
• Take responsibility for health & safety management covering CAT lead project activities
• Take responsibility for collecting and collating performance data
• Working with the Project Manager and Communications Officer collect and interpret evaluation data
• Contribute to report writing and project dissemination
• Work with Communications officer to share project stories, outcomes etc
• Identify opportunities to influence policy and work with Policy, Resource and Research Manager to produce briefs
• Work with the Project Administrator to organise training events and immersive learning experiences for visitors to CAT
• To ensure effective partnership working at both a strategic and operational level and to prepare reports for operational and steering groups
• To oversee project planning, governance risk management and reporting
• Working with the Project Manager monitor project finances, resources and output delivery, ensuring project budgets are monitored on a monthly basis
• Line manage project staff – Project Administrator and Project Trainer Facilitator
• To oversee monitoring, evaluation and learning to demonstrate impact and inform policy
• Working with the Project Manager put in place effective systems, policies and procedures for the effective management, monitoring and evaluation of the project, in order to deliver on the project’s aims and objectives, outputs, outcomes and impact
• Ensure alignment with Climate Action Fund priorities and CAT strategy
• Any other appropriate duties as defined by the Project Manager
