Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.

FAO’s Subregional Office for the Caribbean (SLC) is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing food, agriculture, and rural development priorities in the sub-region. It develops and maintains relations with subregion-wide institutions including regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs).

The Subregional Office is a subsidiary of FAO’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (RLC), in Santiago, Chile. SLC is located in Barbados and is responsible for 13 countries of the subregion. SLC houses the FAO Multi-Country Office for Barbados and six OECS (Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States) countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis and St Vincent and the Grenadines).

Reporting Lines

Under the overall guidance of the FAO Sub-Regional Office for the Caribbean, the technical guidance of the Lead Technical Officer for the specific project, the Project Coordinator will carry out activities to manage and oversee the quality and the implementation of assigned projects.

Technical Focus

The Project Coordinator will provide specific assistance to technical officers with the management of projects by coordinating project activities as needed among project execution partners. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for reporting on the progress of project deliverables.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Participate in the development of project documents from project initiation to project closure including planning documents and work plans.
• Develop detailed annual work and budget plans based on the approved overall work plan.
• Create schedules for project activities indicated in the annual work plans to ensure all activities are completed on time, ensuring timely implementation of all activities in accordance with the rules of the FAO.
• Prepare project progress and financial reports in accordance with FAO and / or donor procedures and ensuring the accuracy and timely submission of these reports.
• Collect and maintain records on project deliverables.
• Ensure continuous dialogue with project execution partners to oversee the progress of projects and the quality of deliverables.
• Participate in field visits to monitor and evaluate the progress of project activities.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related discipline.
• A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or other recognized certification in Project Management with a
• Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in managing projects and broad experience working in the agriculture sector
• Working knowledge (level C) of English.

• Experience working with various partners and working with international and national experts to implement project activities.
