2. About the job
UNI Europa is searching for a Project Coordinator on Organising and Collective Bargaining policy for the cross-sectoral team of UNI Europa.
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for implementing an EU financed project ‘Capacity Building for Collective Bargaining’ that aims to strengthen the capacity of collective bargaining of UNI Europa affiliates through a series of organising training events, strategy workshops with trade union leadership and analysis of collective bargaining policies.
The main tasks of the Project Coordinator will be:
- Ensure daily management and progress of the project;
- Support in the preparation, implementation and follow-up on organising trainings with UNI Europa affiliates;
- Support in the preparation, implementation and follow-up on strategy workshops with UNI Europa affiliates;
- Prepare material, presentations and publications, minutes, policy briefings and documents for meetings, conferences and forums (coordination of the process, formatting, translation, proofreading, inserting changes, etc.);
- Carrying out practical organisation and follow-up of meetings, events and trips including administering invoices and reimbursements;
- Perform other operational, administrative, technical and logistical tasks;
- Assist the Directors in the writing of follow-up projects;
- Work with affiliates and project partners to strengthen social dialogue, increase trade union power and implement the trade union strategies in the sectors;
- Organise and coordinate meetings with affiliates, the European institutions, employers and other stakeholders at the European level;
- Prepare material, presentations and publications, minutes, policy briefings and documents for meetings, conferences and forums (coordination of the process, formatting, translation, proofreading, inserting changes, etc.);
- Carrying out practical organisation and follow-up of meetings, events and trips including administering invoices and reimbursements;
- Organise and maintain a good filing and archive system.
More generally, the Project Coordinator will provide to a limited degree various operational and administrative support to the Organising Director and Policy and Research Director.
The Project Coordinator will be part of the cross-sectoral team of UNI Europa and will report to the Regional Secretary, the Organising Director and Policy and Research Director.
3. The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A strong personal commitment to the goals of UNI Europa and the trade union movement;
- Experience in trade union work at national and/or international level;
- Experience in delivering trainings for trade union or comparable audiences is (an advantage);
- Strong writing, public speaking and communication skills with an ability to convince people to change approaches;
- High motivation to build stronger unions in the services sectors;
- Prior experience working in NGOs, social movements, campaigns and/or projects (an advantage);
- A deep understanding of contemporary labour problems, the challenges facing unions, trade union organizing strategies and collective bargaining practices;
- The ability to engage in responsible financial oversight of activities and projects respecting budgetary limitations;
- Awareness of the debate around trade union renewal in Europe;
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential. Knowledge of any other languages is an advantage;
- Experience in developing personal work plans and goals;
- Good inter-personal and partnership skills;
- The ability to plan strategically and administratively and effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
4. Remuneration
UNI Europa offers attractive conditions with a competitive starting gross salary of 4951€ in line with seniority and work experience and an attractive package of fringe benefits. This includes complementary hospital insurance, a complementary pension scheme and meal vouchers.
The successful candidate will be based in Brussels/Belgium.
