Position Title:Project Designer
Location:
St. Charles, MO
Position Summary:
The
Product Designerwill be responsible for the mechanical design and detailing of components and assemblies for a wide range of custom mobile solutions including trailers, truck bodies, and shelters/containers. The Product Designer may work independently or under the guidance of a Project or Design Engineer. This may also entail being the technical leader of specific projects utilizing accurate MO’s. This position will interface with other engineering resources and the functional areas of production and purchasing/materials.
Job Responsibilities:
- Create 3D model geometry and associated mechanical and AandE drawings.
- Work with manufacturing to guide and assist in fabrication, assembly, and installation of the designed systems.
- Assume engineering lead role for the development of components and sub-systems.
- Work effectively in a project team environment.
- Assist in customer meetings, conference calls, and site visits, as required.
Required Skills:
- Associate’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience, technical training or certification.
- 2 – 4 years large assembly design experience, including fabrication, sheetmetal, and machined parts.
- Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD or equivalent.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and reference standards, and AWS D1.1 and 1.2.
- Proficiency in MSOffice applications.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot issues, while recognizing when to escalate problems.
- Ability to remain organized with very strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing project needs and priorities.
- A collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new tools and processes.
- Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- 1 – 2 years custom truck, 5th wheel and/or drawbar, or RV design experience.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Required to stand, walk, and use hands.
Must be able to position self to move, bend, and lift up to 75-lbs.
Ascend/descend on ladders and move around /within custom mobile solutions.
