Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.Our Rail Corridor Extensions Team is looking for a Project Manager to support looking after infrastructure projects from design; procurement; construction and handover phase. Projects vary depending on scope, with some more complex. One of the relevant projects is a station build for a new stop along the Lakeshore West / Niagara Line. The role involves overseeing contract administrators, the contractor, responding to RFIs, overseeing construction compliance, progress, and site meetings, reviewing safety issues, processing invoices, and monitoring other day-to-day construction activities.What will I be doing?

• Envision and analyze project scope of work, initiates, prepares, and presents for execution, terms of reference and subsequent addenda for agreements governing the engagement of consultants and/or contractors
• Perform complete start to close-out project management on complex, high-risk projects as required to meet corporate commitments, with or without staff delegation
• Serve as technical specialist on studies as well as design and construction matters
• Review and evaluates consultant studies, reports, design proposals, specifications, and contract documents, to meet established policies, procedures and standards
• Define the need for concept, preliminary or detail design alternatives and new or improved procedures, design standards, specifications, or contract documents
• Ensure that capital projects and programs for new, replacement or enhanced infrastructure, maximize customer service, satisfy internal stakeholder requirements, incorporate external agency requirements, and serve public interests
• Review requests for acquisitions, requisitions for purchase orders, change orders for contracts and addenda for consultant and/or contractor agreements
• Provide administrative, design, editing, technical, estimating, and priority direction to staff and personnel assigned to individual projects, through all project stages
• Ensures the project is progressing by completing, assigning, and monitoring day-to-day tasks and providing updates to management and plans; documents lessons learned to meet project deadlines/milestones in a timely manner as well as providing management with an overall view of the status of the project
• Manages meeting schedules and attends project meetings
• Oversees delivery of final commissioning and contract close out items as per terms and conditions to realize benefits of maximizing customer service, satisfying internal stakeholder requirements, incorporating external agency requirements, and serving public interests
• Manages aspects of a baseline number of complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and provide input and approval in alignment with budget commitments
• Project specific requirement for visits to construction sites during working hours and occasional visits during evenings, weekends and/or holidays
• Site visits may involve exposure to different levels of construction at stations, parking lots, platforms, and railway corridors along with climbing ladders and scaffolding and exposure to inclement weather

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Completion of a degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business, Architecture or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
• Engineering or Architectural college / university degree or diploma
• Strong in-field construction experience
• Demonstrate experience in project management, preferably within the public sector
• Project Management Professional certification (PMP), Certified Engineering Technician (CET) or P.Eng. designation, or, partial completion is an asset
• Project management experience to manage assigned projects of high value and complexity and supervise staff engaged in all stages of project management from start to close-out
• Knowledge of transportation / rail industry is an asset
• Organizational, interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to coordinate complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
• A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence is an asset for regular site visits
