Description :Toromont Cat is looking for a Construction Project Manager. Reporting to the Director, Real Estate Development & Facilities Management, the Construction Project Manager, plays an important hands-on role in overseeing the planning, execution, development and accounting of Capital projects within the organization. You will be responsible for the management of multi-disciplinary SOW for site works, building constructions, physical spaces, resources, and services, including; managing approved Capital Expenditures up to 30 M, adhering to strict timelines, resourcing, building codes and specifications, and ensuring safety protocols are met. The incumbent will work closely with internal stakeholders as well as outside vendors, consultants, service providers, and construction managers.As a Construction Project Manager, YOU will experience:

In a typical day, YOU will:
- Model the way for safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives.
- Review contracts, contractors/subcontractors, suppliers and ensure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Monitor milestones, deliverables, and payments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and manage project budgets (material, labour, equipment, and overhead costs).
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and project expenditures, prepare regular budget reports to stakeholders and any variances.
- Develop comprehensive project schedules, tasks, and milestones.
- Coordinate the delivery of material and resources and identify potential risks or disruptions.
- Maintain document records of inspections and tests. Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and licenses.
- Coordinate inspections and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure building codes and zoning ordinances are up to standards.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs and meeting minutes.
- Prepare progress reports.
- Gather technical requirements and collaborate with project stakeholders including architects, engineers, and clients.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to understand project scope, constraints, and technical specifications.
- Research industry standards, building codes, regulations, and best practices.
- Analyze technical data, drawings, and documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements and objectives.
- Draft technical specifications documents outlining materials, methods, and standards for construction activities.
- Specify requirements for building components, systems, and finishes. Review and refine technical specifications based on feedback. Ensure accuracy and completeness in documentation.
- Understand building and property drawings from all Disciplines
- Understand conceptual designs and sketches into precise digital drawings, incorporating accurate dimensions, annotations, and symbols.
- Review and validate architectural drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design standards and specifications.
Must-haves for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree OR College Diploma in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field and/or equivalent work experience managing complex medium and large scale projects.
- Minimum 5 years of related industry experience in construction project management.
- Experience in supervisory and leadership role on a Construction Site.
- Member of PEO, OACETT, CFM, FMP and LEED are considered an asset.
- Knowledge and Experience in The Commissioning Process.
- Understanding of construction processes, building codes and regulations.
- Ability to interpret building specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders, contractors, and team members.
- Leadership abilities and collaborative mindset.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent drawing tools for creating and modifying technical drawings is considered an asset.
- Detailed knowledge and practical application of legal standards and practice (environmental / contract management / Building code compliance).
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
- Willing to work remotely with virtual instruction.
