Project Manager – Landscape Recovery

Reports to: Director of Nature Recovery
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
Based at: Elm Tree Court, Devizes with some home working available

Are you ready to lead one of the most ambitious nature recovery projects in the
UK?

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is looking for an exceptional Project Manager – Landscape Recovery to
drive forward the Wylye Valley Landscape Recovery project, a groundbreaking initiative to
restore 22km of chalk stream and 800 hectares of the Wylye Valley.

This is more than a job – it’s a unique opportunity to shape the future of large-scale habitat
restoration, working closely with landowners, conservationists, and key stakeholders to
revitalise ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and secure long-term investment in nature.

What you’ll be doing:

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is leading the charge in landscape-scale nature recovery, and we need
a dynamic Project Manager – Landscape Recovery to help drive this vision forward. You’ll be at
the helm of the Wylye Valley Landscape Recovery project – one of just 34 Landscape Recovery
Scheme projects in the UK – working closely with Wylye Valley Farmers, Wessex Rivers Trust, and
landowners to restore vital ecosystems and secure long-term investment in nature.

Beyond this, you’ll play a key role in expanding Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Nature Recovery
Strategy, shaping and delivering new projects at the forefront of conservation, regenerative
farming, and green finance.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the Wylye Valley Landscape Recovery project, ensuring successful delivery of all
    project workstreams.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with landowners, farmers, Wessex Rivers Trust, Wylye
Valley Farmers, statutory agencies (Natural England, Environment Agency, Defra), and local
    communities.
  • Manage project finances, including budgets, grant claims, and funding applications,
    ensuring financial accountability.
  • Oversee all aspects of project planning and implementation, including land management,
blended finance strategies, monitoring & evaluation, legal consents, and site access.
  • Line manage a small team, including the Project Assistant and Administrative Assistant,
    while supporting contractors.
  • Engage and inspire stakeholders, facilitating meetings, workshops, and presentations to
    build momentum for nature recovery.
  • Work across Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Nature Recovery team, contributing expertise to
landscape-scale conservation projects beyond the Wylye Valley.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an exceptional project manager, and a people-focused leader who thrives in a
dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment. You’ll need a strong track record in project
management, ideally within conservation, land management, farming, or river restoration, and
the ability to build trusted relationships with landowners, farmers, and key stakeholders.

The right candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable, and solutions-driven, with exceptional
communication and leadership skills to drive complex projects forward. Above all, we’re looking
for someone who shares our vision for nature recovery at scale.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young
people and adults at risk. All WWT staff will receive safeguarding training and must ensure
that they comply with WWT’s safeguarding policy.

  • Staff discount at Dragonfly Cafe
