Project Officer

We’re hiring: Project Officer

Working hours: Full-time or part-time considered
Deadline for applications: Midday, Wednesday 30th September
Reports to: Head of Project Delivery & Monitoring

We are looking for Project Officers to deliver practical, evidence-based work that protects and restores the River Dee. This role sits at the heart of our conservation delivery, working with landowners, fishing clubs, communities and partner organisations to improve the health of this nationally important river.

Project Officers will work directly across the Dee catchment to identify, design and deliver habitat restoration and water quality improvement projects. This includes working with landowners and fishing clubs, preparing and managing capital interventions, carrying out monitoring activities such as electrofishing and walkover surveys, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

The role requires strong collaboration with partners and stakeholders, careful planning, and a commitment to improving the River Dee through well-evidenced and well-managed conservation action.

About us – Dee Trust

The Dee Trust is an environmental charity with the overall objective of a River Dee free of pollution and full of wildlife. The Dee is one of the UK’s most biodiverse rivers and a vital source of drinking water, wildlife habitat and cultural identity for the communities it flows through.

We deliver practical, evidence-based projects that tackle pollution, restore habitats, support sustainable land management and involve local people in caring for their river. Partnership is central to our approach, and we collaborate closely with farmers, landowners, communities, government agencies and other environmental organisations.

We are a growing organisation with a clear long-term vision. Our current strategy sets ambitious goals for habitat restoration, water quality improvements and community involvement, and we are building the capacity to deliver this work at scale.

Joining Dee Trust means becoming part of a committed team working to protect a river of national importance and secure its future for generations to come.
