ABOUT EARSC:
The European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC) is a non-profit trade association dedicated to advancing space-based solutions in various markets, representing over 130 companies from 27 countries. The EARSC Secretariat, based in Brussels, is a team of 9 professionals dedicated to supporting the growth of the Earth Observation sector in Europe.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
EARSC is seeking a Project Officer to support its mission of promoting the European Earth Observation Services Industry across multiple market sectors. Based in Brussels, the Project Officer will work closely with the Secretary-General and other team members on EARSC Secretariat activities and ESA/EC-funded projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project implementation: Design and implement actions to deliver EC-funded projects (project writing and reportin).
- Liaison and Policy Recommendations: Engage with user communities and stakeholders to support policy recommendations, user uptake, and capacity-building activities.
- Environmental Monitoring Projects: Work on projects focused on environmental monitoring and compliance. Promote Earth Observation and similar solutions to deliver environmental compliance analysis.
- Market Development: Develop links with organisations representing market sectors relevant to EARSC members (e.g., agriculture, energy, marine, etc.).
- Event Organisation: Support the organisation of conferences and seminars (hybrid) and other stakeholder meetings.
- Communication: Collaborate closely with the Communication Officer to enhance EARSC’s outreach and dissemination activities.
- Representation: Represent EARSC at industry fora and establish connections with policy decision-makers and stakeholders in Brussels.
PROFILE:
Essential:
- Work permit in EU
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Research and Innovation projects or sales and marketing of EO data or services.
- Demonstrated project implementation, experience in project submission, monitoring and/or reporting is a plus.
- Experience in organising conferences and seminars (hybrid and in-person).
- Excellent written and spoken English (C2 level).
- Strong skills in planning, organisation, and multitasking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proactive approach with the ability to anticipate actions.
- Ability to work well both independently and within international teams.
Desirable:
- Experience in outreach and policy support, particularly related to environmental monitoring or compliance.
- Knowledge of user communities (e.g., agriculture, environmental monitoring, security, etc.).
- Experience within the EU institutions.
- Creative thinking skills.
- Knowledge of additional languages.
- Experience in Earth Observation
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Employment Type: Consultancy contract or employee contract under Belgian law.
- Location: Brussels, Belgium.
- Salary: based on the experience and contract type
- A benefits package is also provided, including meal vouchers of 8€ per day, and public transport reimbursement.
