About Us
Bats are remarkable and essential to our environment. The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) is the
foremost non-governmental organisation dedicated to bat conservation and habitat protection.
Our mission is to secure bats’ future in a changing world.
BCT actively works on a range of initiatives to create a better world for bats. We’re
passionate about preserving these unique creatures and are committed to welcoming like-minded
individuals who share our dedication.
Wales has one of the lowest areas of woodland cover in Europe. As we face a climate and
biodiversity crisis, the suite of woodland SSSI and SAC become even more important. However,
the majority of the designated woodland in Wales is either unfavourable or their status is
unknown. Our Wales Woodland Wonders project will work around the Meirionnydd Oakwoods and Bat
Sites SAC in North Wales, where 13 of the 17 woodland component SSSIs have unknown status and
four are unfavourable.
We are now looking for a Project Officer to join us on a full-time, fixed-term basis for two
years.
The Benefits
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced conservation project manager, with a strong
background in volunteer engagement and citizen science programmes to join our passionate team.
You will discover a friendly and supportive workplace with an inspiring environmental mission,
where diversity is valued, inclusivity is embraced, and everyone is encouraged to bring their
unique perspectives to strengthen our work.
What’s more, you will enjoy the flexibility of our hybrid working model, enabling you to
establish a healthy work-life balance, while contributing to vital conservation efforts.
So, if you want to play a key role in bat conservation and woodland restoration, read on and
apply today!
