Salary: MEC Band 7 (£22,281 – 23,858) – pay award pending Apr 2024
37 hrs per week – fixed term until Sep 2025.
Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC) is an independent charity that promotes healthy and
sustainable lifestyles using the ten principles of One Planet Living. We have an exciting
opportunity for an enthusiastic Project Officer to deliver Climate Action Middlesbrough, an
initiative to engage Middlesbrough’s communities in taking action to address the climate
crisis. The project works with partner organisations and the wider community to develop
community leadership and support changes locally including at a policy, environmental,
community and individual level.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Climate Action Middlesbrough including
supporting the Project Coordinator, leading on community engagement and sustainable travel,
supporting the work of internal and external partners, planning and facilitating events, and
supporting the collection and maintenance of accurate information.
With a sound understanding of the climate crisis, you will have previous experience of
delivering community-based projects and have the ability to engage with individuals, community
groups and organisations. You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills
and have a commitment to a community-led approach to addressing climate change locally.
