Dsw seeks to recruit Projects Officer.
Place of Work: Kwale County
Reporting to: National Team Coordinator Programmes and Advocacy.
General Responsibilities:
The Projects Officer is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, oversight and implementation of an array of projects, with the goal that all programmes deliver the desirable outcome to DSW Kenya. She or He ensures successful delivery of projects by planning and organizing activities, as well as carrying out important operational duties.
She or He must be an excellent leader, experienced in working with staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner, and to deploy efficient strategies and tactics.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Coordinates programmes and leads in projects activity implementation in the region – especially awareness raising on violence against women and girls .
- Develops and manages projects annual work-plans and budgets; prepare and submit timely and quality project reports and ensure compliance with project documents and contractual requirements.
- Maintains positive relationships between DSW Kenya, Sauti ya Wanawake and its external donors, in collaboration with the National Team Coordinator Programmes and Advocacy and National Department Manager programmes & projects.
- Supports DSW Kenya’s engagement with media for visibility and profiling, in collaboration with National Department Manager and the National Team Coordinator for Communications.
- In close collaboration with programme teams, leads in the provision of Technical Assistance and capacity development initiatives and training in SRHR, Women’s rights and policy advocacy of youth and implementing partners.
- Leads and oversees partner coordination in the project sites, participates in stakeholder meetings in the region for the prevention and protection from sexual exploitation and violence and coordinates periodic project reviews and reflections
- Builds and strengthens strategic networks and linkages with key actors including decision makers, existing advocacy networks within the programme areas and link advocacy efforts with national policy agendas.
- Undertakes periodic visits to project areas to backstop challenges and ensure project implementation is on course.
- Lead knowledge generation and documentation of gender disaggregated data and gender sensitive good practises.
- In collaboration with the National Team Coordinator Research and Evaluation, supports evidence generation and documentation of good practises for lesson learning and knowledge sharing.
- Supports the resource mobilisation efforts to ensure continued resourcing of DSW Programmes.
- .Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Must hold a Bachelors’ Degree in Gender and Development, Social Work or Community Development from a recognized University.
- Must have prior working experience of not less than 3 years implementing SGBV, SRHR, programmes in an NGO setting
- Post graduate training in Project Management, gender mainstreaming or related fields will be added advantage.
- Hands on experience in participatory methodologies will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of gender equality, women rights, reproductive health and youth programming.
- Good skills in networking, partnership management and capacity building.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in the usage of computers, current office software applications, such as Microsoft Office, as well as internet and email systems.
- Ability to work independently and also within a team.
- Ability to work with and understand the youth while maintaining professionalism.
- High level of personal integrity.
