Purpose

ChildFund Asia region is seeking expert bid/proposal writers to join our pool of external proposal writers who will engage with the region’s grant acquisition efforts on a retainer or by project on a continuous basis. Successful candidates will work closely with ChildFund International and country office team members and will take the lead in coordinating, developing, and writing project proposals. The proposals to be completed by the candidate will be in response to a formal call for application for funding.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Writing and editing high-quality content for competitive proposals that reflect ChildFund’s technical approach, theories of change, and niche
  • Conduct workshop/ideation sessions with partner organizations and local stakeholders and compile input into proposals remotely.
  • Conduct internal/external desk analysis through literature review and meetings with the proposal team
  • Information harvesting and analysis through working directly with ChildFund technical experts
  • Providing leadership and coordination to proposal writing teams while serving as lead writer of the team with final responsibility for the master document(s).
  • Produce quality and tailored content for technical and financial proposals or related documents in full compliance with the requirements and quality standards of ChildFund and key partners/grantors.
  • Editing of the final proposal texts in compliance with ChildFund and partner/grantor requirements and quality standards.

Essential Skills

The Proposal Writer should have expertise in preparing and writing technical narratives and budgets for unsolicited and solicited proposals from key institutional donors, namely EU, USAID, FCDO, UN, Global Fund, etc. The candidate must be able to demonstrate essential skills in organizational, planning, and proposal-writing abilities. ChildFund prefers candidates with at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in the international development sector and at least 5 years as a proposal writer. The consultant is anticipated to conduct basic research on proposal-related topics, occasionally interview team members or global movement leaders to enhance proposals, and effectively articulate the narrative accompanying a budget.Fluency in professional English is required. Knowledge and experience writing competitive proposals on any of the thematic priorities of ChildFund will be of added value: Health and Nutrition, Education, Youth Development/Skilling, Child Protection, Climate Action, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI).

  • For which donors you have written proposals (indicate procurement type, no. of proposals, etc.)
  • Daily fee, inclusive of VAT1.
  • Three referees, including the current or most recent employer*. If you have worked for ChildFund as a staff, consultant, or proposal writer, please provide details of your engagement, including a reference person for each assignment.*
