Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a Protection (PSS) Assistant to join our team in Dnipro.
This position is opended for Ukrainian nationals only.
Your main responsibilities will be:

Implement programs of psychosocial support (PSS), introduced by the DRC.

Conduct PSS needs assessment on the focus group level and gather other relevant information to improve PSS activities.

Facilitate the organization and preparation of group PSS sessions for DRC beneficiaries, considering the needs and characteristics of the target audience.

Assist in the preparation of the necessary materials and resources for the PSS sessions.

Conduct PSS sessions independently or jointly with the PSS Officer to promote mutual support, socialization, and positive coping strategies.

Conduct awareness-raising activities on the availability of services in the field of mental health, psychosocial support, and protection.

Identify and refer beneficiaries for more specialized services.

Support the PSS Officer in planning, participate in and conduct capacity building trainings, including psychological first aid as needed.

Contribute to the development and continuous updating of a service mapping system on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) describing available services and assistant provided in the region.

Assist in administrative work, including providing information for the preparation of reports, preparation of documentation and participation in budget planning for PSS activities.

Adhere to all internal rules and procedures of the DRC, as well as principles of ethics and confidentiality.
About you:
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 1 year of experience in NGO, preferably in the psychology field.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
- Higher psychology or relevant education or equivalent work experience.
- Fluency in Ukrainian, level English: minimum “A1” with ability and capacity to grow further.
- Computer literacy: confident user in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

- Contract length: Open ended contract after successful completion of three months’ probation period.
