Protection Information Management (IM) Specialist

Overall purpose of the role:
The IM Specialist will be responsible for the analysis of quantitative & qualitative protection data and the dissemination of information related of data collected by protection monitoring enumerators and partners.
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, and in close collaboration with the wider DRC team across the country and region, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting data checks, cleaning, validation, storage, and analysis of protection data. Contributing to the better use of data, the role will lead on developing innovative data visualization and provide support on data collection and management trainings. The post holder will be part of a Project Management Unit comprising of the Project Manager and MEAL Officer. The IM Specialist will be a go-to person within the team for survey, data collection and data management questions.

Key Responsibilities:
R1. Protection Monitoring:

  • Develop and maintain protection information monitoring systems including set up of data collection tools and databases
  • Compile regular reports, develop necessary visualizations on project performance for use by both internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct regular analysis of data to assess project progress, identify trends and inform decision making
  • Assist in the development of proposals, reports, and other communications materials related to protection information monitoring and displacement predictions modelling

R2. MEAL Support:

  • Develop and maintain data management systems and databases to support protection information monitoring and displacement predictions modelling
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that data and information are accurate and up-to-date
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building support to field staff on data collection, analysis, and management

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least 5 years of experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in data management, cleaning, validation, storage;
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic data collection procedures and solutions (ODK, Kobo, Qualtrics, ONA, Survey CTO…);
  • Demonstrated experience in the training of data collection teams;
  • Knowledge on protection monitoring and experience with Protection Information Management (PIM) Systems
  • Experience working in humanitarian contexts and field work
  • Experience in quantitative analysis highly desired including the use of relevant software applications (Excel, STATA, SPSS, R, Python…) is highly desirable.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information management, statistics, computer science, or a related field; and
  • Certification in a relevant data analytics course

Languages:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili

Conditions:
Contract duration: 10-months contract with possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council terms of employment for National staff.

Location: Nairobi (with frequent travel to field offices)
