The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers interdisciplinary approaches to diverse teaching and research themes. One of the largest and best supported departments in Canada, it has an international reputation for leading-edge research. The EAS department was established in 1995 when the former departments of Geology (1912) and Geography (1957) were merged. EAS has grown to more than 50 faculty members, and over 120 graduate students, and is recognized for its scholarly achievement, excellence in teaching and research, and service to the community.PositionTo counter the pollution of fossil fuel powered vehicles in the public transit sector, agencies across the globe have ramped up the purchase of net-zero emission buses, with battery electric buses (BEBs) leading alternatives such as hydrogen fuel-cell buses. This study will comprehensively assess empirical data on the operational performance of BEB fleets in select winter cities. In this work, the researcher will work with the Principle Investigator to identify challenges, opportunities, and strategies for transit agencies in winter cities to decarbonize their bus fleets.DutiesKey responsibilities will include: * Conducting a critical systematic literature review to synthesize the current state of knowledge on the operational and financial performance of battery electric buses.
