Your new role:We are offering the opportunity to work-as- you-train within our Regulatory Services Environmental Protection Team. You will be expected to have a relevant degree and will have the opportunity to apply the learning through practical experience.The Environmental Protection team responds to service requests where residents are experiencing nuisance, including noise, light and dust. The team also proactively designs out the impact of noise, risks from contaminated land and air quality as part of their responses to planning and licensing applications. The applicant, once trained, will be able to review contaminated land and noise reports submitted as part of developers planning application process.The successful applicant will move through the competencies contained in the scheme guidelines, starting as a trainee whilst undertaking the MSc in Environmental Health. Once successfully completed the post holder will progress through the pay bands once competency and experience in the chosen area of study is achieved. The MSc is a two-year course, which may be delivered either as an online course or through attendance as required. The successful applicant will be given the time for attending lectures, and have their travel paid where required. There may be supplementary training delivered to enhance learning and there is an expectation that the successful applicant will commit to self-study to complete the required training. What you’ll need to succeed:The successful applicant will hold a degree in a relevant subject (such as Science, Environmental Science or Mathematics). There is no expectation of previous experience in regulatory services however, a basic knowledge of relevant regulatory services functions upon commencing the role along with the ability to develop knowledge as required in line with the academic course and Career Progression Scheme is required. The post holder must be committed to a career in regulatory services with the ambition to progress into the role of a qualified Regulatory Services Officer.
