The technologist must be able to perform quality screening and diagnostic mammography with minimal supervision and display independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Performing radiological procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis including: assessing requisitions for appropriate examinations, views and equipment required; obtaining pertinent history; selecting techniques and positioning patients to attain quality images; operating X-Ray equipment and adhering to ALARA radiation safety practices; and performing clerical duties related to the care of the patient.Hours of WorkMonday to Friday (75 hours biweekly) between 8:00 am and 6:00 pmYour Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology required.
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) is required.
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS)program within the last 12 months or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate is required.
- Mammography positioning skills experience preferred, screening or diagnostics.
- Experience in breast ultrasound and interventional procedures an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team, required.
- A high degree of mental and visual acuity, as well as reasonable manual dexterity is required.
- Must be willing to obtain continuing education as part of CAR Mammography Accreditation.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Competencies in other languages an asset.
