Our R&D team consists of highly trained scientists and professionals who work collaboratively with internal and external expert partners. Our team use science and technology to transform the future of soft drinks, creating products and packaging that help our consumers to ‘enjoy life’s everyday moments’ with a positive impact on the environment and society.As R&D Product Innovation Technologist you will apply your broad knowledge of ingredients, sustainability, and technology to enable more sustainable product development. The purpose is to develop innovative, healthy, and sustainable drinks solutions that contribute to our overall brand propositions and Corporate Sustainability goals. The role will partner with Corporate Communications, Procurement, Technical and Marketing teams to create and deliver projects that provide both attractive consumer propositions and ensure we embed sustainability into our product design for the future.Key Responsibilities: * Support projects that develop new product concepts, formulations, processes and materials with suppliers and academic partners, from concept/idea stage all the way to implementation or Test and Learn in market stage.

  • Supporting the delivery of the Britvic Product Innovation long term science strategy, with ownership of the delivery of defined elements of the plan.
  • Prototype recipe development to demonstrate application of new ingredients within different product categories and/or formats.
  • Work with internal and external partners on new technologies and ingredients that will support the delivery of Britvic’s long-term ambition and science-based targets.
  • Management of new ingredients/technologies and finished product testing, through sensory, consumer, analytical, and shelf-life testing.
  • Represent Product Innovation at external conference, with internal stakeholders & external partners (suppliers, academia, industry bodies).
  • Build and maintain a cross-functional network within Britvic (globally) to ensure inspiring innovation projects and concepts are aligned to relevant business needs and stakeholders.
  • Develop strong relationships with subject matter and technical experts in key focus areas within Britvic and with suppliers and academia.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required: * Clear innovation mindset to drive science and technology development, with appropriate work approach.

  • Ability to think creatively to address technical challenges and deliver against the business strategy.
  • Knowledge of ingredients, novel foods, nutrition and ingredient sustainability.
  • Knowledge of ingredient chemistry and emerging technologies in food processing.
  • Knowledge of consumer research and sensory science, to support learning and determine strategic direction of R&D Innovation projects.
  • Project manage technical workstreams where multi-disciplinary teams are involved, ensuring all project work is compliant and legal requirements related to soft drinks.
  • Build effective collaborative partnerships with Marketing, Procurement, Pilot plant team and Suppliers to enable project delivery of key business objectives.
  • Good organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple projects.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems such as MS Office is essential.

Qualifications: * A-levels essential, degree preferred in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Food, Nutrition)

  • Experience of product development in the food/drinks industry or FMCG
  • Experience of academic or applied research via work experience or further study (MSc/PhD)
