The United Nations Secretariat, Agencies, Funds and Programmes based in Kenya is recruiting the following position to fill and populate the UN Kenya Common Roster for Kenya-based UN Offices for General Service and National Officer positions. Under the overall guidance of the Head of the specific Agency/Organization, this post may report to the Administrative Officer or the designated supervisor, or delegated supervisor of the respective entity. Within delegated authority, the Driver works in close collaboration with staff in the respective office and other UN offices to ensure consistent service delivery.
Responsibilities
The driver typically transports Operations and Program staff. Delivers discrete services. Work is undertaken with a degree of operational independence when carrying out assignments; the working environment is structured with limited room for deviation from the work-plan. Main Duties: • Drive office vehicles (cars, minibus, light trucks) to transport staff, officials and visitors, deliver and collect mail, documents and other items, or transport general cargo goods. • Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and assist with basic immigration and customs formalities when required. • Ensure proper day-to-day upkeep of the assigned vehicle by performing timely maintenance and minor repairs and arranging for major repairs. • Maintain daily vehicle logs and provides input to the preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports. • When not driving, may perform other duties such as maintaining stores, assisting with distribution of mail, etc. • Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. • Ensure that requirements and background information used for data analysis are documented • Perform other duties as required.

PLANNING AND ORGANIZING: • Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies. • Identifies priority activities and assignments and adjusts priorities as required. • Allocates appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work. • Foresees risks and allows for contingencies when planning.
Education
Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Valid National Driver license is required. A Defensive driving certificate is desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of progressive responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Experience in vehicle management, including maintenance of official vehicles and minor repairs to vehicles, is required. Experience in providing administrative support is desirable. One (1) year of work experience within the United Nations or similar international organization is desirable. One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
For the post advertised, fluency in English required and knowledge of a local language is desirable. NOTE: ‘Fluency’ equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and ‘Knowledge of’ equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include a substantive assessment, such as a written test, which will be followed by a competency-based interview by phone or teleconference.
