Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Maternity Cover (Until the End of the Academic Year)Are you a passionate and qualified Religious Education (RE) Teacher based in Medway and looking for a rewarding full-time role?Supply Desk are seeking a dedicated RE Teacher to join a large, Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Medway, covering a maternity leave starting in January and continuing until the end of the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students and contribute to a positive learning environment in a school with a strong reputation for academic and pastoral support.About the Role:As the RE Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that engage students in the study of world religions, ethical perspectives, and cultural diversity. The role involves full teacher responsibilities, including planning, marking, and preparing students for exams. You will join a supportive and collaborative department, dedicated to fostering respect, inclusivity, and critical thinking.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Religious Education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively to ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Lead exam preparation, including focused revision sessions.
  • Provide regular feedback to students and parents, supporting progress and achievement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Participate in relevant school events and extracurricular activities related to RE.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Or equivalent, with a degree in Religious Education or a related subject.
  • Experience: Proven success teaching RE in secondary schools, with strong knowledge of world religions and ethics.
  • Classroom Management: Ability to maintain an orderly and engaging learning environment.
  • Positive and Engaging Approach: A passion for inspiring students to think critically and empathetically.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to plan effectively and manage responsibilities independently.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A valid enhanced DBS (on the update service or willingness to obtain one).
