Job description
The Department of Computer Science is looking to make an appointment of a Senior Lecturer/Reader who will complement and enhance the research, industrial engagement and teaching strengths of our Automated Software Engineering group. With this appointment, we are seeking a person with capabilities to:
- Lead their own research initiatives
- Develop and teach courses in a range of software engineering topics and computer science more broadly, particularly core computer science
- Supervise undergraduate and MSc projects in software engineering
- Ability to work closely with industrial partners delivering both Continual Professional Development course and impactful research
Main Purpose of the Role
- To publish high impact research in quality journals, either as a sole author or in collaboration with others, and to devise, direct and develop research projects generating external research funding.
- To lead the design, development and delivery of a range of academic modules and ensure that design and delivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the Department and University.
Skills, Experience and Qualification needed
- PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate substantial intellectual distinction with a sustained contribution in research and scholarship, that bestows considerable external recognition
- Well-established national and international reputation in subject area
- Specific knowledge of automated software engineering (e.g. model-based development, automated testing, AI for software engineering) that would enable supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students and research staff
- Proven track record in research with publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and other publications or outputs appropriate to the subject
- Significant (invited or plenary) presentations at international conferences
- An extensive track record of teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and postgraduate level or in a demonstrably similar context
