As part of the University’s significant investment in the delivery of the Manchester Fashion Institute’s new and ambitious strategic vision, we are looking for a Reader in Fashion Business to join our dynamic and growing team. We have an excellent track record in industry collaboration, academic research and innovative teaching and learning and have ambitious research plans following the most recent REF submission where art and design research at Manchester Metropolitan University was ranked 2nd in the UK for overall research power.We are looking for an experienced academic to join our research community of cultural historians, designers, technologists, and social scientists, and aims to advance critical fashion thinking and practice around cutting-edge topics such as ethics, diversity, sustainability, digital innovation, supply chains, and consumption, with a focus on fashion as a force for good in society at large. We want to increase our focus on funded research and publication of high-quality outputs.We have ambitious plans to grow our postgraduate provision, notably postgraduate research and those appointed could play a key part in supervision of PhD students. We want to further improve our graduate outcomes and reduce our award gaps. If any of these are areas that you believe you can contribute too, we would love to hear from you.You will be expected to contribute to the design and delivery of high-quality teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Your research and pedagogy will combine the elements of traditional marketing practices with a deep understanding of the fashion industry’s unique dynamics and challenges. We wish to recruit to the following areas but not limited to: marketing and branding, management, retailing, merchandising and product development, economics and markets, entrepreneurship, forecasting and trend analysis, sustainability and the circular economy, technology and innovation, supply chain from production to distribution, sourcing and ethics.It should be noted that experience does not have to specifically be from fashion background, although we would seek assurance through the application process that you could apply your broader marketing expertise in a fashion context.About you:
