Location: South Kensington (hybrid)About the role:We are delighted to be recruiting a new colleague at Reader/Professor level in Geotechnical Engineering in the within the . You will have research interests which complement the research of current academic staff in our , shown by their research portfolio.What you would be doing:You will plan, resource, and direct an original and impacting research programme in Geotechnical Engineering, conducting research projects on your own and developing collaborative projects with other members of the Department and College and with external collaborators. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research can: * address the challenges of delivering low carbon energy,
- mitigate the risks posed by climate change,
- contribute to develop sustainable resilient infrastructure, or
- address the UN sustainable development goals.
You will also contribute to undergraduate and taught postgraduate teaching in soil mechanics / geotechnical engineering, considering our cluster of MSc Courses in Geotechnical Engineering in particular.What we are looking for:You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field and an established national reputation and developing international reputation (international reputation and expertise at Professor level) in the field of geotechnical engineering.You will also provide evidence that your research can contribute to: * address the challenges of delivering low carbon energy,
- mitigate the risks posed by climate change,
- contribute to develop sustainable resilient infrastructure, or
- address the UN sustainable development goals.
Evidence of your ability to contribute to undergraduate and taught postgraduate teaching in soil mechanics/geotechnical engineering is essential together with a portfolio of research publications confirming national/international standing (commensurate with career stage).Full information on duties, responsibilities and criteria for the post can be found in the Job Description.What we can offer you:
