Recreation Manager – Visitor Services

Forestry England

We are Forestry England. We are the country’s largest land manager, and we are growing the
future for wildlife, for people, and for the climate.

Situated on the Surrey/Hampshire border, our Alice Holt Forest Visitor Centre is a site with a
thriving team and great potential. Offering an amazing place to explore, Alice Holt Forest
receives over 300,000 visitors every year.

Set amongst 851 hectares of diverse woodland, visitors of our site are drawn to our outdoor
recreation offer of forest walks, children’s play areas, family cycling trails, a place to walk
a dog, and more.

Our income is generated through car parking, memberships, an on-site café business, an activity
centre with bike hire, and Go Ape treetop courses. We also offer a wide range of paid events
and activities such as Forest Runner, parties, barbecue hire, Parkrun, and forest learning.

As a Recreation Manager, you will manage the Visitor Services team at the site. You will lead
on our customer offer and activity programme, and support the development of key relationships
with third-party stakeholders (including community engagement, volunteering, and learning
opportunities).

Working alongside the Alice Holt Forest Centre Site Manager, you will help develop business
plans and development plan proposals, and then manage and deliver these through to completion.

Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has proven leadership
qualities and excellent communication skills. They must be competent in MS Office, and
experience of delivering an excellent customer offer that provides quality customer service and
successful commercial outcomes.

In return, we offer an attractive salary and benefits package, including a generous government
pension scheme and flexible working. We also provide excellent personal and career development
opportunities.
