Regional Construction Manager in Mississauga, Ontario

Regional Facilities and Construction Manager Responsibilities:

Collaborate with large professional teams (automotive OEM’s, architects/engineers, contractors, vendors) on complex development projects

Must have ability to understand design drawings and be able to provide creative design solutions to program requirements

Prepare project presentations to senior leadership including project design, budget and schedule

Coordinate with regional operations teams and corporate executive team throughout life of project. Report regularly on construction progress through project completion

Interface with local regulatory/municipal agencies to secure required land use/planning approvals and permits

Oversee and direct the work of architects, general contractors, sub-contractors and key 3rd party vendors

Ensure the coordination, development and approval of architectural/engineering construction drawings with respect to budget, schedule and constructability

Negotiate construction contracts. Ensure that bid documents and contracts encompass complete scope coverage

Develop and monitor project budgets. Prepare project budget reports for approval

Responsible for financial controls/reporting

Track hard and soft costs expenditures against project budget and contracts. Review and evaluate change orders and claims

Ensure projects are documented and attend meetings as necessary to move project along

Inspect projects regularly to ensure all work is performed to design specifications and in conformance with automotive OEM requirements

Regional Facilities and Construction Manager Requirements:

BS/BA degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management related fields

Minimum of 7–10 years of construction/redevelopment experience

Proven track record in larger scale retail and/or automotive dealership design and construction management

Proven track record in the entitlement process and consultant management

Site planning and project design experience

Working knowledge of CAD, MS office, MS project, Photoshop and PDF writer

Frequent travel required
