What we are looking for
A Strategic Adviser with international HR Generalist experience within the humanitarian sector.
Must have worked in a senior HR position in at least two different country contexts. Solution oriented, great stakeholder management skills and thought leadership are some of the key qualities we are looking for.
What you will do
The purpose of the Regional HR Adviser is to support the country offices (COs) in the implementation of global HR systems and initiatives in accordance with NRC policies and procedures and to support building sustainable capacity in HR structures and systems in Country Programmes.
The following is a brief description of the position:
- Providing strategic and technical guidance and support to the Country’s HR teams and senior management on HR policy reviews, processes, and systems including collaboration on all HR aspects.
- Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures – support and monitor compliance with the HR handbooks and NRC policies, and respective quality assurances.
- Contribute to the development of policies, strategies, tools, and new approaches, with a focus on innovation and piloting.
- Share best practices on operational HR issues with other regional counterparts in NRC, through regular fora for cooperation (operative issues). Ensure that best practices are identified, documented, and disseminated both within the region and beyond.
- Participate in strategy processes and advise on HR initiatives related to the regional strategy, Country programme specific strategies and take part in reference groups for new HR initiatives or thematic issues established by HR Global.
- Contribute to talent management initiatives and regional collaboration to increase Learning and Development capacity, workforce, and succession planning. Provide training and capacity development across Country Offices in the region and the Regional Office.
- Provide regular HR analysis and reports.
- Work collaboratively with the Global Recruitment Centre on recruitment and onboarding processes of international staff and senior national staff according to NRC’s procedures and standards.

What you will bring
- A Bachelors/master’s degree within HR related field or at least 4 years of documented experience working as a senior HR professional in a humanitarian context.
- Demonstrated experience working as an international senior HR generalist in at least 2 different Country contexts.
- Experience working in complex and volatile contexts with an international humanitarian organisation.
- Demonstrated capacity to establish rapport, gain commitment from stakeholders at all organizational levels, and exhibit strong collaborative skills for building relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Proven ability to persuade and inspire cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support and deliver HR strategies.
- Solution-oriented and creative problem-solving skills
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic and/or French is an added advantage.
What we offer
- Duty station: Amman, Jordan, Middle East and North Africa Regional Office.
- Contract: 12 months.
- Travel: Up to 40% within the region.
- Salary/benefits: Grade 9 on NRC’s salary scales, with accompanying terms and conditions.
