Regional Partnership Lead, Latin America and the Caribbean

Position description

The Regional Partnership Lead will develop, manage, coordinate, and oversee the engagement with donors and partners. Responsibilities include resource mobilization, partnership development, outreach and strategic communications. The Lead will collaborate closely with Country Programs, either leading or supporting donor and partner engagement depending on program needs and context.

This position reports to the GGGI Regional Director (RD) and Head of Programs, with a secondary reporting line to the GGGI Head of Partnerships at GGGI HQ.

PURPOSE

  • Lead regional efforts to diversify and expand GGGI’s funding sources to ensure long-term financial sustainability;
  • Support the RD and Country Representatives (CR) in the engagement with new and existing donors to support Country Programs;
  • Guide the proposal development process, guaranteeing alignment with donor requirements, and ensuring quality in the logframe and theory of change;
  • Ensure the proper implementation of GGGI’s Project Cycle Management (PCM), from idea generation to project initiation, including proposal development and grant negotiation;
  • Support the Regional Director and Country Representatives in strengthening cooperation with members, prospective members, and non-state actors for the development of strategic partnerships and expansion of the country program portfolio;
  • Assist Country Representatives in advancing Membership and Host Country Agreement negotiations;
  • Assist strategic communication efforts targeting donors, member states, and partners;
  • Contribute to the implementation of GGGI’s account management framework, donor engagement plans and partnership strategies.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Work closely with the RD and CRs to identify country/multicountry needs and opportunities to develop resources mobilization proposals;
  • Advocate for GGGI’s mission and objectives with members and strategic partners;
  • Engage with new and/or existing donors to advocate for GGGI’s mission, identify or create opportunities, and secure funding;
  • Engage with partners to negotiate Memorandum of Understandings and Partnership Agreements;
  • Identify and build relationships with working groups and advisory committees to increase awareness and put GGGI at the forefront of emerging issues and sectoral deliberations;
  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Office, Country Teams, HQ Partnership Team, Korean Liaison Unit, and the Strategy, Communication, and Governance teams;
  • Engage with the heads of Governance, Legal, Finance, and Country Teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures throughout partnership formalization, due diligence processes and proposal development;
  • Support the Regional Director and Head of Partnerships to monitor and manage reputational risks.

DELIVERY

Depending on Country Program needs, the Regional Partnership Lead will either lead or support the following, in close collaboration with the RD and CRs:

  • Develop and implement resource mobilization and partnership strategies and plans;
  • Engage with new and existing donors to advocate for GGGI’s mission and secure funding, including donor mapping, outreach, communication, meeting scheduling, follow-ups, and opportunity identification;
  • Develop concept notes and funding proposals, ensuring alignment with GGGI’s strategic goals;
  • Provide quality assurance of PCM processes, including concept note and funding proposal development, review and approval (PCM 2); project reporting and closure ensuring timeline and compliant submissions to donors (PCM 4);
  • Negotiate and formalize MOUs, partnership and grant agreements;
  • Maintain accurate, up to date data in Salesforce (CRM) for accurate tracking of signed and pipeline projects, MOUs, and other agreements;
  • Plan and coordinate partnership engagements through the development of annual donor engagement and communication plans;
  • Negotiate Membership and Host Country Agreements with prospective member states;
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of corporate systems, rules, and practices related to partnerships, project/program development and due diligence;
  • Ensure consistent and up-to-date communication with donors to understand changes in reporting requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-graduate qualifications in international relations, business administration, economics, environmental studies, or related thematic areas;
  • Relevant professional experience (preferably at least 10 years) with partnership development and donor engagement responsibilities. As well as proven experience in project management, strategic communication, and proposal development;
  • Proficiency in project cycle management methodologies and tools;
  • Experience with CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce) and project management software;
  • Experience working with developing countries and working experience in multi-cultural environments is a must;
  • At least two (2) years of working experience, outside of home country;
  • Proficient written and spoken English is a requirement. Proficient written and spoken Spanish is desirable.
