As part of our dynamic team, you can lead the way, as we continue our journey towards high reliability care!Right now we are looking for a Registered Practical Nurse to work with our Nephrology, 9 East Unit in the Acute Inpatient Medicine Program.Reporting Relationship: Manager, 9 E&W Nephrology & MedicineHiring Salary Range: $34.641 – $35.145Position Responsibilities:

  • RN responsibilities for Nephrology focused patients
  • Care planning and coordination of care with various team members.
  • Utilization of computerized systems for documentation of patient care.
  • Participation in project teams or Hospital committees as required.
  • Preceptorship of nursing students.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • One year recent medical experience with focus on nephrology.
  • Experience with Peritoneal dialysis, Continuous Ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and continuous cycling peritoneal dialysis required.
  • Completion of Nephrology 1 and 2 required or current enrollment required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Experience with patient health teaching.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, intravenous therapy initiation and discontinuation, Blood Transfusion, Wound Care Dressing, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
