Reporting to the Associate Director and under the supervision of the Regulatory Officers, the incumbent is responsible for providing high level of administrative and communications support and oversight to critical regulatory functions within the Secretariat. The key areas of focus include providing support to a number of regulatory processes including, requests for public access to documents, policy administration, staff and student tribunal processes, tenure and promotion processes, advisory committees and elections. Additionally, the incumbent will provide project support, as required, to the Secretary-General, the Associate Director and the Regulatory Officers. The nature of the support is diverse and varied.Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the review of access to information requests and develop the University’s responses, ensuring sound and judicious interpretation and application of the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information.
- Administer and apply University policy and regulations to assist with the management and oversight of the University’s activities under various policies, regulations and codes.
- Act as a resource to committees and provide training and liaison functions regarding policies and procedures.
- Provide advice on the interpretation and application of University policy and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date online content on various University websites, under the purview of the Secretariat.
- Carry out research and projects on a variety of regulatory functions and activities.
- Synthesize reports and documents in the form of summaries and briefings notes. Translate and summarize French documents as required.
- Conduct the elections process for Senate, the Board of Governors and Statutory Advisory Committees.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or AbilitiesUniversity Degree is preferred. Experience in legal or administrative role, preferably three years or more. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and to work independently and efficiently. Proven ability of writing and research skills. Solid organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent computer skills, using a variety of software including databases and content management systems. Ability to work in high-pressure environment. English and French written and spoken.
