Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Impact and Regulatory Affairs, the Regulatory and Environmental Specialist is responsible for coordinating and leading the planning, implementation and reporting of infrastructure, environmental compliance, municipal services and programs according to the City’s short and long-term strategic objectives. This position supports and acts as a project manager on multi-million-dollar capital projects.The position requires a University degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or other applied science, relevant to the position. A minimum of 6 years related experience in environmental and regulatory, or in other related fields including experience in project management is required. The incumbent must possess a valid NWT Class 5 Driver’s License. The incumbent must be proficient in MS Office Suite, and have demonstrated experience with project management software. The incumbent must demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships quickly with internal and external stakeholders, to establish effective channels of communication and a collaborative working relationship.The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $119,332 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
