CK Group are recruiting for a Research and Development Chemist, to join a bespoke chemicals manufacturing company, at their site in Teeside, on a full time, permanent basis.Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm.The Company:Our client is a manufacturer of bespoke chemicals for various industries, specializing in precursors for ALD / CVD manufacturing of electronics and other niche applications.Salary:£28,000 – £34,000 depending on experience.Location:This role is located in Teeside and is commutable from as far south as York and as far north as Newcastle.Production Chemist RoleThe Research and Development Chemist is a flexible roll that requires an analytical and methodical approach and imaginative thinking. An excellent knowledge of Transition Metal Inorganic/Organometallic Chemistry and synthesis of air sensitive compounds is essential in order to research new products and develop existing products.Your main duties will be to:

  • Developing original solutions to material synthesis problems.
  • Conducting theoretical and practical work to develop new materials and to develop and improve their accompanying manufacturing processes.
  • Designing and documenting R&D experiment protocols.
  • Conducting theoretical and practical work to resolve customer issues and issues raised by the production team.

Your Background:The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:

  • A PhD degree in inorganic chemistry, organometallic experience is especially desirable.
  • PhD graduates from a relevant project are welcome to apply.
  • Experience working under inert atmospheres (Schlenk line techniques).
  • Strong inorganic and organic synthesis experience.
