About usThe is home to a collaboration of interlinked neurological research areas, each one focused on advancing translational scientific knowledge to further patient recovery and management, and educating through teaching and academic supervision.The Department encourages collaboration both within its various teams as well as with other departments across the Institute of Neurology, the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, the Faculty of Brain Sciences and UCL at large.The High-Dimensional Neurology Group develops complex, high-fidelity models of brain dysfunction deployable within established clinical pathways, creating end-to-end prototype systems rapidly translatable into clinical reality. It operates across neurology, with an emphasis on actionable disorders with substantial population-level footprint, such as stroke and brain tumours.About the roleThe Programme for High-Dimensional Neurology will create a comprehensive, large-scale, multi-site, hospital-embedded framework for complex modelling of rich clinical and brain imaging data, and deliver a suite of real-world applications across stroke, neuroradiology, and acute cognitive dysfunction.You will join a team of outstanding researchers with a passion for innovation with rapid, real-world impact, achievable within the life-time of the project. General machine learning experience, and an interest in research and a commitment to supporting high quality research, is essential, as is knowledge of complex modelling within neuroscience, neuroimaging or healthcare, and higher language programming skills including Python.Knowledge of software development cycles and practises, experience of translating science and engineering into real world solutions is desirable, as is experience with common neuroimaging and statistical analysis software packages.We will also consider candidates with a PhD in a relevant area.What we offerThe starting salary for a Research Assistant is on UCL Grade 6B in the range £23,164.20 – £24,753 [60% of £38,607 – £41,255] per annum per annum including London Allowance.We will also consider candidates with a PhD in a relevant area, appointed as a Research Fellow at UCL Grade 7 £22,430 – £25,930 (i.e., 50% of £44,860 – £51,860) per annum including London Allowance.As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer great benefits, some of which are below:
