About the RoleThe Barts Brain Tumour Centre is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Research Assistant for a newly appointed research group which aims to understand how oncogenes rewire the proteome to support brain tumour development. The successful candidate will assist in performing a wide-range of wet-lab experiments including cell culture, gene editing and quantitative proteomics. This role will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in conducting hypothesis-driven research and get hands-on experience in varied methodologies in biochemistry and molecular biology. Beyond the research experience, the candidate will also support with managing the infrastructure and resources of the lab and participate in research grant/manuscript writing.About YouApplicants should have a MSc (or PhD) in biochemistry or molecular biology or related fields, be motivated, to work in a diverse group including experimental and computational researchers. Prior experience in conducting biochemical and molecular biology workflows including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, qPCR and/or cloning is essential. Hands on experience in performing quantitative proteomics and/or generation of genetically engineered cell lines is a plus. We are keen to support the successful candidate in any technical areas in which they do not have prior knowledge.About the InstituteThe Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL.
